This Weekend!

This Weekend. I don't really know what I'm doing this weekend but I know I have a football game Saturday. The Festus Tigers play the Windsor Owls. We play at their place and hopefully we go down there and kick some Windsor butt! We play at two. But, I don't know what I'm going to do Sunday. I hope I can Madden 15 and stomp my friend Brayden Noflo's butt will the Seattle Seahawks.

BANANA

The bananas are just a company that ran out of business and its for the need of food for Africa. And there are 1,243,986 bananas that's enough bananas for Tom Brady to live off of with his bad self. Him and his ugly wife can cry more about how bad they are as a family. If The bananas where good bananas the Tom Brady wouldn't deserve them. Anybody but Tom Brady would get them.

Football Practice

Football! Football is my favorite sport i play half back and corner back. But yesterday was not my day for football. First at the beginning of practice on the way out i stepped on a earring and that hurt so bad. But i got over it but be for we start to stretch we run GO'S Post corner and Post routs. and i couldn't catch a ball for anything.

Four Day Weekend!!!

This four day weekend should be really fun. And what i mean by that is that on Friday I have baseball practice and then I will go to the home Festus Football game and hang out with friends. Then on Saturday my best friend is having his birthday party and that should be really fun. Then when I go home on Sunday I will probably will play baseball. with me friends Brayden, Dom, and Eli and go swimming.

Kid Nation 5

Conflict- interaction aimed at defeating an opponent and increase dysfunction and working against each other. There is a lot of conflict in Kid Nation like the counsel leaders fight a lot when they have to pick the prize for the showdown that they won.

Primary group- a close group that emotionally support each other and seek one another out. I picked this word because the yellow group seeks out Zack. They chose Zack because he  wanted to run for counsel, but Taylor is friends with most of the girls in yellow district. So, it's hard for him to run if the girls vote for Taylor.

Group- In kid nation, they were in groups of 8 people. They all had a certain color that represented
their group. When it came down to running for a showdown they all tried their best to get first place, but they all want everyone to win so that they could win the big prize. Another group is the counsel leaders because there is more than one or two people in the counsel.



 

School is almost over

I can't wait until school is over! There will be no drama or at least not a lot of drama. I can hang out with my friends more and actually stay the night during the week days even though I already do that. The last day of school I think is going to be good because everyone will probably set a side their differences and won't argue because its the last day of  school and a lot of people we won't see over the summer so we're going to  make the last memory the best well at least I hope. Also I can't wait until summer actually starts because I'll get to go camping a lot and I enjoy it while I'm camping I get to drive my moms car on the back roads and its so fun!

Something that bugs me is...

When people think I'm upset and blame other people. Usually when people think I'm upset they blame people or think its a certain person, but its not I'm usually am not that mad until someone says it to  me over and over again. By the end of the day I'm warn out and everyone thinks I'm in a bad mood which I'm not until they ask me about it over and over again. I just don't like people who think they know all that.

This weekend

This weekend my best friend, Julia, and I are going to a party Saturday. We are probably going to go shopping before then and then get ready for the party. We also might go to the all night skate because that is the last night their open then after that they're closing. We  use to go skating all last year, but I think we grow out of it. So this would be fun to go since I haven't went since the summer. We met a lot of people who are now our friends till this day.

My favorite animal is a pig. The reason why its a pig is because when I was young I used to watch charlottes web all the time. Pigs are the cutest things ever! When I was younger I thought I would live on a farm with pigs because I like them so much. What's not to like about pigs their pink big and comfortable. The last reason why I like pigs are because  they have the cutest noses ever.

Kid Nation 7

deviance- Behavior that does follow society's norms (expectations). The expectations the town has is to work hard not just work for the gold star. If the people of the town just work for the star the counsel won't give them one they look for the hard workers to give the gold star to.


stigma- An undesirable trait or characteristic that used to negatively label a person. In kid nation they call people names that aren't  so nice.  They sometimes call people names that shouldn't be called or at least shouldn't be said a loud. The words the people say in the town can hard some of the other people which cause arguments.

Social sanctions-  Rewards or punishments to encourage conformity to norms. The punishment the counsel would give is the jobs like; cleaning the toilets or getting the water. The rewards are the gold star or being the upper class is a reward for the team the finishes first. Greg and his friend decided to not work in the show down so that the girls will work more.





 

Kid Nation 6

Authority- legitimate or socially approved use of power. The counsel makes most of the decisions the town makes. The only other way the town is from the counsel leaders. The counsel makes the rules. they choose the best decisions.


groupthink- thinking based on the following the group beliefs rather than you individual; it's often based on pressure from the group. the counsel has pressure on them while picking the choses for the gift for the show downs. The counsel is almost all the time pressured into the choses they make and decisions.


Social exchange- A voluntary action you perform while expecting something in return. Well I picked this because in Kid Nation Taylor got token off as a counsel and zack took her place. So in turn she was being disrespectful to the counsel. When she got asked to do something she would just complain about it and run off. Also she pour the water out of the bucket because she wanted to show zack that she isn't going to do anything.

Kid Nation 4

status set- is all the statuses someone holds. Morgan won a gold star for twenty-two thousand gold star and her statues she holds is a mother, team mate, and a labor. she worked so hard to earn the star and she treat everyone like her child.


ascribed status- something a person chooses and works to become. they all work together to be higher in the job range. They are in four different group and the jobs they could get are; upper class, merchants, cooks, and then labors. They battle off from the jobs by doing show downs.



right- moral or legal entitlement to act a certain way or get something specific. I think Greg is trying to work really hard so that he could get a gold star. Sometimes he can actually be really nice and exactly want to help out, but sometimes I think he just does it for gold star.

Poorest president

I think its unfair for the president to get paid 12,500 but donates 90% of it to charity in which he only get 1,250. The only way it would be fair is if everything in his country was low at the prices. He should be allowed more money due to his hard work and his ways of ruling his country. If I was president I wouldn't stand for only getting paid 12,500 because as a president you have to do a  lot more than you think. It is hard to do everything with just 1,250.

Kid Nation 2

In the  paragraphs below I will be telling you about the words I picked for kid nation. You may or may not agree with the words I chose but I will have the evidence to back it up. the words I picked are society, norms, and beliefs.


The first word I pick is society. society is when people live in the same area and share common cultures, but there are same differences. in kid nation 40 kids for all over the world came together to create a society with different Ideas. all the kids are different for how they live or grow up but they have to work together to keep the town running.


another word I picked is norms. Norms is when following the laws or rules. In kid nation they set rules to keep the town up and going. If  they didn't set rules or laws the town would be terrible.


        The final word I picked is taboo. Taboo is used when the little girl protects the chicken from being killed. When the fifteen year wants to kill it she stands up from it.
 

Bonfire Friday

On our Easter weekend off my friend and I planed a bonfire. We invited about 25-30 people but only 15 showed up. We were so mad because another person an threw  a party the same day at the last minute. Half of the people went to theirs. But over all it was a good bonfire and now we know who our real friends are. Also I got asked out Friday so that make my night even better.

Kid Nation 3

After watching Kid Nation I picked three words to describe the show and what happened. In the next three paragraphs I will be talking about each word. My word choice might not go with the ones you picked but I'll have the evidence to back my words up.  


the first word I picked was socialization. The reason I picked this word is because in Kid Nation they have to learn how to behave and interact with each other to survive. If they don't the town wouldn't be running like it was. The older kid really have to learn how to behave because they are the ones the little kids look up to.

the second word I chose was desocialization because they older boy Greg was very disrespectful the first day they got there. He was getting better each day until the counsel didn't give him the star. He started to cuss and be disrespectful to everyone. He didn't mind or try to clam down he just blow up and was being really rude.    

 

 

the last and final word I chose was total institutions. the reason I picked this is because four people rule or are in charge of thirty-six people for 40 days. Where every group meeting people have the choice to leave or out rule the counsel. They are in the middle of no way and they have to work together to keep the town running.

Weekend plans

  On Friday I'm going to a party. Saturday my friend Julia and I are planning out a bonfire in two weeks. I already have the movies picked out and a projector. I still have to get the food and drinks this weekend, although its not for another two weeks. I like to plan a head of time when it comes to things like that.

I'm trying to be a leader

The words I chose for  Kids Nation are dysfunction, class conflict, and power. In the following paragraphs below I'll be telling you why I picked each word.


I picked dysfunction because one of the girls that were 14 made negatively comments about the counsel she was  disrespectful to a lot of people and she thought she was better than anyone else. In Kids Nation she said," Thank you for noticing my hard work I've been doing." right after the counsel gave her a gold star worth 22 million dollars. I honestly didn't think she deserved it.



The other word I picked was power. I picked power because in Kid Nation a group of four kids were the leaders over 40 people. They want to see if they can run the town better than the people did in the old days. They were split in four groups to do jobs and the higher you were the more power you had.



The final word I choose is class conflict. The reason  picked class conflict is because there is all sorts of age groups are put together to see if they can lead better than they did back in the days. I think its to be hard because of the age group. Its going to be rough dealing with all sorts of age groups.

Dear  Mrs. DeBolt,

            Hi I'm Gabby. I'm the youngest of two sister's but one of them past away before my mom gave birth. My older sister is 15 and her name is Abby yes I know our name's are alike.
I have one dog named Miley and a cat named Rico my other dog Bo dead not to long ago due to a car hitting him and he broke he's back and two of his leg's so my mom decided to put him down. my mom and dad are roughly the same age.


          I like pigs and on my free time I like to practice soccer and go to the park to shoot hoops with my friends even though I can't really play basketball. I usually walk home but I'm grounded until I get my CA grade up. The only reason I have a bad grade in CA is because of my AR. I don't like reading and reading doesn't like me.


        When I'm on the computer I like to play games or looks at picture or even type. I type usually about what's going on in life or what I'm having problems with it helps me then I'm upset because instead of telling someone that wont keep a secret I just type after I'm done I delete it so no one can see it. When I say look at picture I mean look at my photos because a lot has changed since I was little and I can't believe it.



         

Do video games make kids more violent?

I think video games make's kids' more violent. Video games can sometimes get into kids' heads. They will talk about all the time and think of it more than a video game. They will bring it up at school or could bring a gun to school because in the video game they did.

Kid Nation

I think that what they are doing is pretty cool and I would like to do it. There is a bunch kids and they have the choice to stay for a few days then leave or stay for the full forty days. I thin a lot of the kids are going to leave as soon as they can.  A lot of the kids are taking charge but Michael did the best. I like the idea of the districts but I don't think they are going to work out. But they are beginning to look like they can do it though. My favorite person is Jimmy because he's very funny. The showdown was very cool. They chose the outhouse like I thought they would. I think they will give the gold star to Sophia. I don't know if Taylor will stay or leave. I'm mad that Jimmy left but it is ok. I think that Sophia will not be so bossy anymore. The gold star is worth $20,000. Sophia got to call her mom and tell her.

My Favorite TV Show

My favorite TV show is Duck Dynasty, because it is hilarious. My favorite people on there are Si, Jase, Godwin, and Martin. But I like Si the most because he is like a big little kid. I like Jase to he is super funny. Godwin is funny because he says stupid things that don't make since but are funny. Martin is funny because him and Godwin are like the guinea pigs. If you have never watched it before I suggest you do.

Something that really bugs me is when people make fun of mental kids. It makes me want to go up and punch them in the face. Something else is when people tries to aggravate me.

School

This year has been stressful already because I am really struggling at math  and I haven't made my AR goal. My mom said if I don't make my AR goal I can't play baseball during the summer. And if I couldn't play baseball this summer I would die. I am just not very good at math because I don't understand it.

I  think this is true because  everybody is special in there own way. For instance people that are good at Math could think there special and people that are good at Communication Arts could think they are special. But not everybody is special at the same thing.

My Birthday

Last Friday was my birthday, but we celebrated it on Saturday. It was pretty cool because I got stuff before my birthday like I got a new bat called the MAKO its awesome. I also got new clothes that are black and  neon yellow. I'm also getting new baseball cleats and batting gloves they both look cool. I am also getting a new pair of shoes that are neon yellow and black.

Seven Identical Doors

The door I would choose to go through is the Camelot door. The reason I want to go through this door is because I think it would be cool to be a knight or a king, or just meet one of those . If I had to choose somebody to go with me it probably be my friend Tim Nauke. I would take him because he is funny and he would probably be a good knight.

Sports Memories

One thing I will not forget about my age right now when I am an adult, is I wont forget all the sports things that have happened to me. For example being on the Little League All-star team, because I got to pitch a lot and I through my first no hitter. But my favorite thing I wont forget is when my 7th grade basketball team won conference and went undefeated.

Biggest Slide I've Ever Seen

Verruckt is the name of the new waterslide opening up at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. It is different than Brazil's Insano because it is so much bigger in height. Standing at 17 story's tall it is taller than the Statue of Liberty and Niagra Falls. The name of the guy who created this beast is Jeff, but everybody calls him "Wizard of Water." I would definitely like to go on this ride if I get the chance. I would like to ride this ride, because I would be able to say I rode it.

1. Extensive: The football field is extensive.
2. Hurtling: When I was playing football the kid hit me and I went hurtling through the air.
3. Illuminate: When I turn on the light it will illuminate the room.
4. Mulling: I am mulling about playing baseball.
5. Propelled: When my dad hit the gas in his boat it propelled us and we almost crashed.
6. Radical: Some people have radical effects.
7. Speculate: I speculate that we will win the conference championship.
8. Surpasses: That trees height surpasses the height of normal trees.
9. Welded: The group of people welded together and stopped arguing.

The New Micro Chip

This micro chip is was created by Jung-Chih Chiao a professor at the University of Texas Arlington. These micro chips are so small that you could fit 10 of them on a single grain of rice. It is a mere 100 microns thick. He came up with this idea in his backyard trying to catch wind gusts. They envision selling a hundred of them per pack. A few thousand of these windmills could power a small family home.
